Fruitful Pickings: Center Grove Orchard
Volume 4, Issue 9  |  October 29, 2009

Dear Friends,

This season seems like it went by so fast! Thanks to all who came out and made it a success.

Read on for our end-of-season details. (It's that time of the year already.) This will be our last weekly newsletter; we send much less frequently toward the end of the season and the rest of the year.

We now have almost 750 fans on Facebook and still growing! If you're not one of them yet, please join us there. Thanks to those who stuck with us through the Great Facebook Coupon Crisis last week. Seems like the newsletter will be the place to get coupons from now on! We'll have to come up with other fun stuff for our Facebook page. Let us know if you have ideas!

Hope to see you again before the snow flies!

Apple salsa, pumpkin butter and dipping caramel are back in stock in our store. They and everything else there make great holiday gift baskets!

Around the Farm

This will be the last weekend we have all the activities open. Come out one last time to enjoy the apple sling shot, a hayride to the pumpkin patch, and to enjoy the good fixings at the Feed Bunk. The rest of the activities will still be set up for two weeks following this weekend, and our store remains open until Thanksgiving.

I think the slide has been a big hit. (Here's one of the photos the Ruggles Family sent in for our Facebook album--thanks!) Cousin Dave and I have noticed the slide is as variable as the weather. On warm, sunny, dry days the burlap sacks are the fastest way down. On cold, cloudy days the sleds are the way to go. And if you wanna go really fast, go down first thing in the morning with a sled when the morning dew is still fresh! It is so much faster that Dave and I extended the slide another 20 feet just for those wetter moments.

Don't forget this Halloween night we are open late to master the maze in the dark. Come out this Saturday evening to celebrate the fall season in a corn field in the dark. Bring your friends and flashlights for a spooky good time! Starting at 7:00 p.m. admission will be $5.95, and last admission will be taken at 9:00 p.m.

Saturday is also Costume Day!

Finally, keep sharing your photos for our Facebook Page. You can either upload them yourself, or attach to an email and we'll post them for you. Thanks to all of you who have already done so!
