Matthew Gonder Book-Signing

Matthew.jpg?1382832323Sun,  Dec. 08, 1-3 pm

We welcome Matthew Gonder, author, singer, dancer, and 1976 graduate of Wenatchee High School as he signs copies of his funny and touching memoir, Music On The Move Out West. This true, but crazy family adventure begins in 1969 and follows a widower and his five teenagers through trial after trial in their search for a place to call home in the Pacific Northwest. Spanning four years, two states and four cities, this story of hard-knocks and discoveries takes the reader back to a time when less was more. A coming of age story that reminds us of the expression: “where there’s a will, there’s a way”, accompanied by a musical soundtrack of top 40 radio hits from the early ‘70s that will make everyone sing along. Both Pioneer Junior High School and Wenatchee High School figure prominently in this story.

erikhanberg.jpg?1384647121Sunday,  Dec. 15, 11 am to 1 pm

We are excited to welcome back Erik Hanberg with another book to delight his fans, The Lead Cloak, the first book in The Lattice Trilogy. This newest book is a break from his previous mystery novel, the well received Marinara Murders. In this fantasy story, Erik brings fresh insight and intriguing ideas to the forefront. The hero, Byron Shaw, can track and find anyone on Earth. Except the people who tried to kill him.

By 2081, privacy no longer exists. The Lattice enables anyone to re-live any moment of your life. People can experience past and present events--or see into the mind of anyone, living or dead.

Most people love it. Some want to destroy it.

Colonel Byron Shaw has just saved The Lattice from the most dangerous attack in its history. Now he must find those responsible. But there's a question nobody's asking: does the Lattice deserve to be saved?

The answer may cost him his life.

Meet Erik on Sunday, December 15 from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM as he signs copies of his book, The Lead Cloak, $14.99

A live presentation illustrated by breath-taking photography; book-signing follows.

The resurgence of wolves in the old-growth forests and wild coastlines of the Pacific Northwest renews age-old questions. Through David Moskowitz's stunning photography and vivid stories, wolves emerge as smart, complex players in a vast interdependent ecosystem. Observing them at close range, David Moskowitz explores how they live, hunt, and communicate. He challenges assumptions about their role and the impact of even well-meaning human interventions.

This remarkable story will resonate everywhere that mighty social animals—like humans and wolves—struggle to coexist. With its strong narrative thread, this ambitious chronicle is both wilderness adventure and call to action.

A Child's Christmas in Wales

By Dylan Thomas

FC9780763666958Fifty years after its first publication in book form, Dylan Thomas's timeless prose poem is echoed by the rolling, evocative images of Caldecott Honor artist Chris Raschka — a beautiful gift for book lovers.

There are always Uncles at Christmas. And Aunts, of course, who might sing a little loudly after dinner. There are the neighborhood cats "sleek and long as jaguars and horrible-whiskered," the Useful Presents and the Useless Presents, and the endless snow "shawling out of the ground."

Chris Raschka's fluid torn-paper illustrations honor the poet's words, evoking their musical cadences and bringing us a fresh appreciation for this most lyric work.
