Dear Friend of Fort Mason Center, As a friend of Fort Mason Center you already know that the campus is a dynamic place. During the three months that I have been Executive Director, I have come to fully appreciate the intricate and varied workings of this important nonprofit institution. In these first few months I have walked our site-specific art exhibit, SEAT, as well as the Outdoor Exploratorium. I have watched rehearsals for BATS Improv and Magic Theatre, as well as performances of the Young Performers Theatre. I have seen incredible works of art at the Museo ItaloAmericano, the new exhibit at the Mexican Museum, and locally made, original artworks at Open Studios. I have tasted tomatoes at the Sunday Farmers’ Market and dumplings at Off the Grid. I have enhanced my home library through the annual Book Sale of the Friends of the San Francisco Public Library and seen the modern day Rosetta Stone at the Long Now Foundation. Since 1973, Fort Mason Center has been an incubator of the arts in San Francisco and the Bay Area. We actively support innovative art and culture by offering space to work and perform. Our programs entice an engaged and dedicated community of visitors. In the coming years we will continue to search for exceptional programs, while maintaining our historic campus in the pursuit of uniting art, culture, history, and innovation.
