 Dear Friends,
My father is an inspiration in the way he is dealing with brain cancer. Throughout it all, he has been determined to finish his new book on Leonardo Da Vinci, which he just sent to the publisher. However the battle is far from over. We are in the thick of it right now, and all I can say is that he is my hero. You can stay posted at leonardshlain.com.
All of this puts current events in perspective and makes me think a lot about the big picture, which brings me to my new feature film in production, Connected. I've been invited for a public interview at the SF Jewish Community Center on Feb 18th, where I will show clips from our new film-in-progress for the first time, as well as talk about my other films and founding of The Webby Awards. I'm very excited to share this new project with you, and hope to see you there. Tickets are available here.
We just moved the crew for Connected to a new office on Pier 27 in San Francisco. The SF Film Society and SF Film Commission granted us a fantastic film residency in a building with many other filmmakers who are all making, editing, writing, and producing. It's dreamy, and we'll be there for our whole production until we finish in October. A great space to make the film.
March 5th though 8th, Ken and I will be at the Pulse New York Art fair where the Catherine Clark Gallery will be exhibiting our art installation, Smashing. More information below:)

PULSE Contemporary Art Fair Held annually in New York and Miami, PULSE presents leading international galleries and artists showcasing the latest movements in contemporary art.
We are excited our recent art installation, Smashing, has been selected.
Smashing is an interactive art installation with video projection, step plate, custom electronics, and software, inspired by this quote:
“Every act of creation is first of all an act of destruction.” - Picasso Smashing
Shattered glass has punctuated crises and transformations through history and across cultures from Kirstallnacht to the Watts Riots. The breaking of a glass at the conclusion of the Jewish wedding ceremony has many interpretations. In this installation, viewers are invited to make a silent vow, seal it with a stomp, and come to their own conclusions.
