Support Canadian FASD Bill C-583
NOFAS calls on members of the FASD community to support “Private Member’s Bill C-583” in the Canadian parliament, “An Act to amend the Criminal Code (fetal alcohol spectrum  disorder)” which defines FASD under the Criminal Code and was introduced by MP Ryan Leef of Yukon, Canada.

Nutrition Implications for FASD
“Because there is a lack of information on the role of nutrients and prenatal nutrition interventions for FASD, the focus of this review is to provide an overview of nutrients (vitamin A, docosahexaenoic acid, folic acid, zinc, choline, vitamin E, and selenium) that may prevent or alleviate the development of FASD.” – Advances in Nutrition

$1.6 million Grant for Medical Support for Pregnant Addicts and Alcoholics in Minnesota
“Pregnant women in northern Minnesota who are addicted to drugs or alcohol will get more medical support, thanks to a $1.6 million grant announced Wednesday at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.  The grant will pay for a collaborative drug education and screening program for at-risk mothers in Beltrami County and the Red Lake Indian Reservation.” – MPR News

Same Family, Different Stories: Siblings in Complex Blended Families November 20, 2014. 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM EST. “The term “complex blended families” refers to families formed through any combination of birth, adoption, fostering, kinship care, remarriage, or alternative reproductive technology. How children joined the family and its impact on relationships between siblings will be explored.”
