Personal Care is a Major Concern

dirty clothesTime and time again we hear teachers and social workers tell us that personal hygiene and clean clothing are major issues among the neediest children in our schools. These students feel like outsiders and withdraw from their classmates.

"They feel embarrassed but they really come out of their shell when they get the basics and feel ‘normal’ again,” says one social worker.

We know that not having food, clean clothes, or basic hygiene items obstructs children’s ability to learn and thrive.  That’s why we are creating a Personal Care Pantry to include laundry detergent and hygiene products. It will launch in August and we need your help to stock it this summer.

Teachers Receive Snacks for Classroom

Snacks 200x200
We are proud to partner with the Teacher Supply Warehouse this
year to stock snacks in their facility, so that teachers looking for school supplies can receive snacks as well.

Many teachers told us that they pay for snacks out of their own pockets in order to provide for children who are unable to bring snacks from home.

Some teachers were paying around $200 a year to provide snacks for their students.

To take this burden off of them, we have supplied over 2,300 lbs of snacks to the Teacher Supply Warehouse this school year. We look forward to continuing this program next year.
