CASE STUDY:
ASPCA Sheds Dog-eared Donor Email Addresses
with ECOA
Email marketing is one of the most effective channels ASPCA uses for mobilizing and staying in touch with its constituents. Due to the high churn rate of email addresses, however, email bounces are an ongoing problem.
ASPCA decided it wanted to address its problem with undeliverable emails head-on. The organization knew that its donors and members were constantly changing email addresses, making it difficult to easily stay in touch... Full Article >>
Our ingrained social skills guide us well when we want to befriend a new neighbor.
If you’re particularly charming like Bree of “Desperate Housewives”, you know
that a polite introduction, a smile, and a basket of muffins can be a wonderful
way to get your relationship off on the right foot.
On the other hand, just arriving on someone’s porch and barging in with barely an introduction could taint your relationship forever. Worse yet, you might never develop a relationship at all (or get to live through the rest of the season if you’re too much like Edie Britt)...Full Article >>
Who's On Your Website?
In business today, capturing valuable data about potential customers who have shown enough interest to pay an initial visit to your website is vital.
Marketing and ecommerce professionals try to do whatever they can to entice “drive-by” visitors to return to make purchases, to provide information that will help to facilitate future sales efforts, and to recommend other like-minded buyers. So what could be more perfect than the ability to identify visitors who’ve just “stopped by” but haven’t registered or left any identification? Quick Tip:
Have an Exit Strategy If people on your email list stop opening or clicking through, set a non-response limit for when you'll stop sending them emails. ISPs now consider your overall open and click-through rates to determine your reputation. Ask The Email Expert: Q. What is the typical "bounce rate" threshold used by ISPs to determine whether or not to block your emails?
A. Ten percent (10%)
If you send 100,000 emails, and over 10,000 are undeliverable, it's very likely that the balance of your campaign will be blocked. Some ISPs have been known to use thresholds as low as 5%.
Submit your database or email marketing question, and a FreshAddress Email Address Expert will respond to you directly. If we use your tip in FreshPerspectives, you'll receive a Barnes & Noble
gift card!
