Next Up - WSA Gatorade Championships Tour/Midget Smith Pier Rat Challenge at the San Clemente Pier, January 9 & 10!
WSA is kicking off 2010 with the Midget Smith Memorial Pier Rat Challenge at the San Clemente Pier January 9 & 10. All 18 year old and older and Open divisions will run on Saturday and all Under 18 year old divisions will run on Sunday. For those of you who did not know Midget, he was a respected shaper, ASP judge, shop owner, friend and mentor. He passed away in August of 2008. Midget Smith’s love for his friends, family & the sport of surfing are greatly missed by many but never forgotten.

Southern California Host Families Needed for US Championships!
We all know traveling is getting expensive. Airfare from the East Coast and Hawaii is through the roof and some airlines are charging $150 per board each way. WSA is looking for families willing to host visiting surfers from Hawaii, the East Coast and Texas Gulf, so they can afford to travel to compete in the Surfing America USA Championships June 13 - 16 at the Huntington Beach Pier and June 20 - 24 at Lower Trestles. We will act as the clearing house. Let us know if you are interested and how many people you can accommodate. If you have kids competing and are willing to host a minor, let us know. We will put you in touch with competitors who would appreciate a little WSA hospitality. One of the greatest things about surfing is meeting surfers from other parts of the country. Just reply to this email and let us know what type of accommodations you can offer.
WSA Oceanside Toys For Tots Results
Thanks to everyone who bought a toy or made a donation to Toys For Tots at our December Contest. We collected over 260 gifts and $180 to help a kid have a Happy Holiday. Results are posted HERE.
