Dozens of Volunteers Move Grey Fox to Oak Hill

On the first weekend in May, about 50 veteran volunteers and long-time staff members helped move truckload upon truckload of equipment and materials from the Rothvoss Farm in Ancramdale to the Walsh Farm 40 miles west in Oak Hill, NY. Click to see Steve Ide's Moving Day Video .

New 'Under the Tarp' Cooking Classes at Grey Fox

JIM TARANTINO, a confirmed serial griller, cookbook author and five-string banjo player living in Philadelphia, will be showing Grey Fox fans how to take their camp cooking into a whole new realm of deliciousness. Two one-hour classes will feature recipes from his 354-page cookbook, Marinades, Rubs, Brines, Cures & Glazes (Ten Speed Press, 2006). Check out Jim's lip-smackin' finger lickin' recipes. Bring the ingredients to Grey Fox and start cooking gourmet meals right away. Jim's third workshop, "Stocking the Bluegrass Bus" will be aimed at musicians and others who need to eat healthy, tasty and easy to prepare foods while on the road. 

Jim Tarantino learned to cook in his teens by working in his uncle’s restaurants. He has appeared several times at Philadelphia’s Book and the Cook and has written numerous magazine and newspaper articles on marinades and grilling. He will be available for book signing at his booth in the vendor area throughout the weekend.  

IBMA Brings Development Seminar to Grey Fox

TAKING YOUR BAND TO THE NEXT LEVEL
Are you a bluegrass artist ready to step up to the next level of touring and expertise in the music industry? For the first time, the International Bluegrass Music Association, the industry's professional trade organization, is bringing a professional development seminar to attendees of Grey Fox. Plan to meet with respected industry reps for a panel discussion and Q&A on topics like booking, developing a unique band image & identity, getting the most out of a recording session, publicity and radio promotion. Best Campsite Award Goes Green

From this summer forward, Best Campsite honors will be awarded to the campsite that shows the most efficient use of space and is the most eco-friendly. Say goodbye to big, sprawling campsites and turn your home-away-from-home into an efficient, environmentally compatible space. Think small. Think green. And you could win a pair of tickets to Grey Fox 2009. We recently heard from Christina and Dusty who won last year’s Best Campsite Award. It’s as if they saw the theme of the contest changing even before we did. Their story is amazing—from the recycled and reused materials to the beautiful campsite they created and their use of the car corral. Read Christina & Dusty's story in our blog section.

Yoga Returns to Relax & Rejuvenate Fans

LUCY WEBERLING, Festival Yoga/ Inner Smile Promotions, will be leading Yoga sessions each morning at Grey Fox as she has for the past 4 years. Over 100 festival goers have taken part in the 10:00 am sessions each day, stretching the body, calming the mind, and energizing the spirit. Lucy is a 200-hr certified yoga instructor, educated at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, MA, where she continues work on her 500-hour certification. She is a member of Yoga Alliance, the professional organization that maintains the integrity of yoga teaching. Lucy is also a bluegrass musician and a member of the IBMA Leadership Bluegrass Class of 2008. As a long time festival goer, she is well versed in the rigors of festival lifestyle—long hours, little sleep, and lots of pickin’.  Bring your mat and stretch, relax, and rejuvenate each morning at 10 in the Dance Tent. Enjoy live  musical accompaniment by Kindling Stone from Nashville, TN.  

Arrival, Camping and Seating Procedures

All camping at the Wash Farm is flat and green. There's plenty of room for everyone and no campsite is better than another. And the music doesn't start until Thursday afternoon! Still, we expect a lot of traffic on Wednesday morning. Why rush just to wait in line? Relax and save yourself the hassle! Come a little later and enjoy the journey. 

OPENING DAY ARRIVAL PROCEDURES  (for Wed, July 16)
• Camping gates will open Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at noon.
• We will begin lining campers up on site on Wednesday at 9 a.m., not before.
• Do not arrive before 9 a.m. You will not be permitted onto the site.
• Local police will not permit cars to park along public roads. Plan accordingly. 

GETTING THERE
For door-to-door directions use 1 Poultney Road, Oak Hill, NY 12460 as your final destination. Select Greene County if prompted.

WANT TO CAMP WITH FRIENDS? HERE'S A SUGGESTION.
• We recommend that you time your arrival, meet up somewhere and come in together. An ideal place to meet is at the Milk Run on NY 145, East Durham, just one mile from festival site. The Milk Run (gas/grocery/restaurant) has a very large parking lot. And it's a great place to pick up any last minute needs. Here's a map.

CAMPING ETIQUETTE
• No roping off of large areas in the campground.
• Tent camping spaces can be up to 20 x 25 feet including your vehicle.
• Campers may save two campsites in addition to their own (a total of 20x75 feet).
• Space may be saved until the music begins on Thursday (2 pm).
• Whenever possible, park vehicles in the car corral to maximize camping space.       (See Car Corral section below.)
• RVs/Campers planning to use their generators must camp in the RV area (location to be announced). Others may camp in general campground.
 
Volunteers must remain in Staff Camping until 6 pm Wednesday. Ticket buyers may camp with volunteers in Volunteer Camping if they with wish.

MAIN STAGE SEATING ETIQUETTE
• Seating in the Main Stage Area is on a first come, first served basis. You may leave your seats in place all weekend, but it's the Grey Fox Way to allow people to sit in your seats while you're gone. So if you come back and someone's in your seat, don't be surprised. They'll get up and leave and you might just make a new friend or two!
• Seating from the front row to the Sound Booth will be on low backed beach style chairs or blankets only. If you can roll a basketball under your chair, it’s too high. We will have basketballs and won't be afraid to use them.
• From the sound booth back is open seating. 
• Ground tarps & blankets used to save seats may not be larger than 6x8 feet.
• Sunbrellas and sunshades will be permitted along the top perimeter of the seating area only.
• No smoking in the Main Stage amphitheater, food or other public gathering spaces.

Car Corral Makes Camping Safer & More Spacious

We want to encourage full festival campers to park in the Car Corral, especially if you're planning on moving your vehicle during the festival and if you have extra vehicles that you don't need at your camp. At the Walsh Farm, the Car Corral will be just a short walk from general camping, so you will be able to access it easily.

For each vehicle parked in the Car Corral, you will be eligible to win nifty prizes all weekend long, such as CDs, hats, tee shirts, and the grand prize of a full festival ticket to Grey Fox 2009. Someone's going to win. It might as well be you!
