A Message From Our President

Dear JCRC-NY Friends & Supporters,

As we prepare for the Jewish New Year, all of us at JCRC-NY look back proudly at our accomplishments these past 12 months. For example, in a very turbulent environment our relationships with our neighbors are strong, hate crimes in NYC are down, our institutions are safer, and we have strong support from public officials across the political spectrum. This is based on the ongoing relationships the JCRC-NY has nurtured over the past 40 years and continues to do so today. In the coming year, we will reinforce those relationships and make new ones as an honest voice representing the New York Jewish community. We continue to adapt to demographic, political and social changes within and beyond the Jewish community and ensure that the functions and expertise of the agency correspond with the goals of our mission.

All of our activities display innovation and influence and show results. Our work vividly demonstrates how JCRC-NY’s core mission of uniting New York’s diverse communities helps to combat anti-Semitism and ultimately strengthens the Jewish community.  As we enter a new year on the Jewish calendar and begin the observance of the High Holy days, we look forward to even more success stories. We are grateful to our generous donors, our Board of Directors and our parent agency UJA-Federation.
Thank you for your continued support!
On behalf of all of us at the JCRC-NY, please accept our very personal best wishes for a Shana Tova U’Metukah – a good and sweet year!

YouthBridge-NY Orientation Retreat

On August 14-15, YouthBridge-NY, our teen leadership program, held its annual Orientation Retreat for the 2018-2019 students. Organized by YouthBridge-NY Managing Director Karen Lander and Program Coordinator Samantha Klein, the retreat was held at URJ Kutz Camp in Warwick, NY.

Through games and interactive activities, 32 of our teens explored themes of leadership, teamwork, identity, and diversity, including workshops on racism and discrimination. The students also enjoyed getting to know each other better at the pool, climbing tower and with a special show and tell (with s'mores)! It was an incredible two days, and we look forward to an exciting year with our fantastic teen leaders.

Miller and Director of Jewish Communal Affairs Dori Zofan escorted 12 NYC community leaders to Israel as part of our vital Missions to Israel Project.  The participants, representing NY’s diversity, were alumni of the We Are All New York Fellowship, our training program for community based leaders.
