On behalf of Leadership Rhode Island's staff and Board of Governors, I wish you a very happy, healthy, and prosperous 2016.

Our 35th Anniversary year was of great significance for Leadership Rhode Island. We held 19 alumni events, 16 Core Program and CLRI session days, 33 asset-mapping community meetings facilitated by the Lambda II class, and finished strong with the first statewide strengths-based conference in the world.

And to top of the year, our #makeRIstronger initiative was just reported and published for 1.8 million readers around the globe!

2015 Staff Highlights:

  • Topping the staff's favorites list was the 2015 class' public outreach efforts (33 community meetings) that culminated in The Greatest Lil' State on Earth.
  • LRI's 35th Anniversary-themed newsletter received more positive alumni feedback than any other in the past three years.
  • Our first annual statewide block party was HUGE! Expect another one in June 2016.
  • LRI, RIC, and The Providence Journal's ongoing public forum series, Publick Occurrences, received its second consecutive RI Press Association Community Outreach Award.
  • Harvard Business School Alumni Association of Southeast New England and LRI hosted the only objective, public community forum on the riverfront I-195 land usage, following PawSox ownership interest. The sold out event deepened community dialogue.
Are our collaborative #makeRIstronger efforts having greater impact?

YES! Among other measurable outcomes, company by company and person by person, Gallup recently reported that RI's most actively disengaged workforce ranking, of which Rhode Island was the worst in the country, has improved to #39. We're not longer on the bottom and we're still far from the top, but we're just getting started.

And we did all of this with new staff and existing staff in new roles... Many kudos to Kevin Cooper, Matt Coupe, Michelle DePlante, Joanne Gallogly, Jane Nugent, and Kim Ramirez!
