Valentine's Day!
It's everyone's favorite/least favorite holiday. I can't think of a holiday that makes some people feel amazing and others feel like hiding in a corner until it's over. Actually, that's a lot of holidays, isn't it? Oh well. Whether you're stoked or scared, it only comes once a year and it'll be over before you know it! If you're totally dreading it, I propose this: Why not just make a delicious meal and celebrate love everywhere. Maybe that's slightly cheesy but it can't be a bad thing. Plus, by making a tasty home-cooked meal, you're silently protesting the gross display of commercialism (I mean, joyous celebration of love) that surrounds Valentine's Day. Seriously, the best way to boycott Valentine's Day is by staying in and making the most scrumptious meal possible. Besides, the dishes below are filled with known aphrodisiacs so maybe love is coming your way, whether you like it or not. Happy Valentine's Day!

Check out some of the recipes that I'm lovin' right now:

  • Almond Cheese Pizza
  • Roasted Beet Ravioli with Sage Pesto Sauce
  • Portabella Wellington
  • Sesame-Avocado Pasta
  • Chocolate Silk Pie
  • Chocolate Turtle Truffle Torte
  • Giovanna's True Tiramisu

Valentine's Chat with Colleen Patrick-Goudreau is this Thursday! Join us for a very special Valentine's-themed chat, featuring compassionate cook, baker, and inspirational VegNews columnist, Colleen Patrick-Goudreau. The award-winning author will offer timely advice on all things love–not just the romantic variety, but also how to be a joyful, happy vegan year-round, despite international turmoil. To sweeten your palate as well as perspective, she'll also share her favorite chocolate recipes for a V-Day full of love, happiness, and all things chocolate. It all happens in the VegWeb Chat on Thursday, February 11 from 6–7 pm (PST).

Seriously, have you seen the sexiness? Our Valentine's Day page is where it's AT. We've got aphrodesiac recipes, sultry links (can links be sultry? Why not!), and even vegan condoms. It's the raciest thing on VegWeb! Well, aside from the Do Not Disturb forums.

Last Call for Valentine's Day treats! If you haven't visited the VegNews Store yet, you're missing out on candy bars. And chocolates filled with peanut butter. And VEGAN MARSHMALLOWS. I could go on and on and on, or you could just head there now and buy me something. Please.

Movies, Books, & TV Shows, Oh my! VegWebbers have their fingers on the pulse of pop culture. It's true, we're a very hip bunch. I hope I didn't negate how cool we are by just using the word "hip" because it's true! If you want to talk about who was voted off on Project Runway or what's the lastest and greatest book about animals, head over to What's New, Pussycat?

It's Valentine's Day so you need a romantic dessert to share with your paramour. Or something to eat an entire pot of while you watch re-runs of "House". Whatever. This recipe for Chocolate Pudding was yanked from the fabulous VegNews, but they have to understand, I'm not an especially romantic person and so it's hard for me to come up with any sexy recipes. If left to my own devices, you'd all be eating Sloppy Joes on Valentine's Day. Quelle Romantique! Does that translate? I told you I'm not good at romance! Anyway, this pudding is rich, delicious, and please tell me something that says love more than chocolate. Besides Sloppy Joes. Enjoy!

    What You Need:

1 pound (16 ounces) firm silken tofu
    1 cup powdered sugar
    2 teaspoons vanilla
    2 cups vegan chocolate chips
1/4 cup vegan chocolate chips, finely ground

    What You Do:

    1. In a food processor, place tofu and blend until smooth, scraping down sides of bowl as necessary. Add sugar and vanilla.
    2. Melt chocolate chips in microwave or double boiler. Pour melted chocolate into food processor and process until combined.
    3. Pour into serving dishes. Sprinkle with finely ground chocolate chips and garnish of choice. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Each week, we highlight a member of the VegWeb community who goes above and beyond to make VegWeb a truly excellent place to spend time on the internet.

    This week, "mamaanna!"

    VegWebber since? October 2006

What do you do when you're not on VegWeb? I'm a freelance writer and editor. I have one beautiful almost-eight-year-old and we like yoga, playing outside, reading, and spontaneous dance parties. Adult interests include wine, fancy dinner parties, and boobs.

Valentine's Day is this weekend! What's your favorite romantic recipe on VegWeb? Love potion lasagna is awesome! So is the grilled avocado sandwich (especially with tomato and baby spinach). Not to toot my own horn, but I also highly recommend my Tempeh with forty cloves of garlic. It's yum!

#1 cooking secret/tip? The secret ingredient is always love.

Ice cream or French fries? French fries. Sugar has nothing on salt in my book.

Read mamaanna's entire interview and tell her how awesome she is in the Superstar VegWebber thread!

Well, this is about the raciest you will ever see your VegWeb Weekly. If you're not ready for the heat, I suggest it's time to step away from the computer because this week, we're giving away vegan condoms. Yes, vegan condoms. I know, it's kinda shocking that all condoms aren't vegan but some contain casein, a product derived from milk. Ew. All sex should be safe, and that includes no harming of animals! If you're feeling especially lucky this Valentine's Day, head over to the our Weekly Giveaway and let us know what your favorite romantic movie is for a chance to win a couple packages. CONDOM packages, people. I'm not that gross!

    Good luck!

    Peace in your kitchen,
