Strawberry Malted Milkshake
In less than three weeks, VegNews is heading to New York City to host one of three nationwide launch parties to celebrate our latest issue. While we’re excited about all the Big Apple has to offer, to be honest, what we’re really looking forward to is this strawberry malted milkshake, which provides a sneak peek of the amazing comfort foods to be served at our NYC bash. This simple twist on the soda fountain classic by VegNews contributor Hannah Kaminsky highlights the sweetness of strawberries while calling for just five ingredients. Or six, if you’re in the party mood. See you there!

Serves 2
What You Need:

2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled
1 12-ounce package firm silken tofu
1 cup vanilla soy milk
2 tablespoons barley malt syrup
1/4 to 1/3 cup agave syrup

What You Do:

1. In a blender, combine strawberries and tofu until thoroughly mixed together. Scrape down the sides of the blender, and process once more until completely smooth.

2. With the blender running, add soy milk and barley malt syrup. Add agave to taste, depending on the strawberries’ sweetness.
