  Perfect Oatmeal

If there's a better way to start the day than by devouring a delicious bowl of oatmeal, we certainly don't want to hear about it. Everyone's favorite quick-and-easy breakfast has never been tastier thanks to this recipe from VN contributor Patti Breitman. Fresh fruit, nuts, and seeds pack a punch of nutrition in this warm and delicious morning meal.

Serves 1

What You Need:

1/2 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup water
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
2 tablespoons ground flax seeds
1/4 cup chopped pears or apples
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1/4 cup vanilla soymilk

What You Do:

Bring water to boil in a saucepan and add oatmeal. Lower heat and cook for about 2 minutes. Transfer to a serving bowl and stir in other ingredients. Enjoy immediately.
