Healing Health Care Disparities through Education:
An Interactive Faculty Development Program

Friday - Saturday
October 14 - 15, 2011
   The Colonnade Hotel
   Boston, Massachusetts

Dear Colleague,

We are delighted to announce the "Healing Health Care Disparities through Education: An Interactive Faculty Development Program" sponsored by the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the American College of Physicians will be held on Friday, October 14th and Saturday, 15th in Boston MA at the Colonnade Hotel.

This two-day immersion course showcases exercises developed through interdisciplinary collaboration among faculty from Harvard Medical School, Harvard Business School and Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. Expert faculty will lead the course sessions presenting interactive methods for achieving the recently mandated integrated of cross-cultural care into the pre-clinical and clinical years of medical school and residency and fellowship years of training.

The unique aspects of our program are the interdisciplinary collaboration, the interactive nature of the entire program and the detailed step-by-step approach that will help implementation at the home institution. Our project is based on the tenet that faculty who have received exposure to a variety of educational techniques and tools that incorporate cross-cultural care ideas and concepts into basic science courses and clinical settings will be poised to launch and teach an integrated program for cross-cultural care in their own institution’s medical school and residency program.

Please visit our course page at cme.hms.harvard.edu/courses/healing for additional details, course descriptions and registration information.

Sincerely,

Helen M. Shields, M.D., F.A.C.P., A.G.A.F.
