We're excited to announce that the EPA's
Lifecycle Building Challenge Awards are returning to West Coast Green!

That’s great, but what is it you ask?

Our notable partner, the Environmental Protection Agency (Region 9) concocted a fabulous little plan while participating in West Coast Green’s Action Hub in 2006. Their plan was this…to create a design competition for students and professionals focusing solely on innovation regarding deconstruction and building material reuse.

And the Lifecycle Building Challenge was born! Submissions from architects, students, planners and builders poured in, ranging from de-nailer guns to radio-tagged, re-useable wall panels to design that considers reuse as it's primary function.  

The awards were presented last year at West Coast Green drawing unprecedented media attention, and now in its second year, the Lifecycle Building Challenge has been adopted by the national EPA!

Awards will be presented at West Coast Green 2008 – Sept 25 - 27. So if you happen to be sitting on a brilliant building-for-re-use idea, don't forget to submit it by July 31st!
