Our Spring session begins April 24 with classes and workshops that will help you prepare for the Playa, get started on that home improvement project or simply explore something new. There’s something for everyone here at The Crucible.

Architectural Applications of Plate Glass:
Using Recycled Glass

Saturdays :: April 24-May 22 :: 10-1PM
Explore techniques in reuse of broken window glass to form sculptural pieces, tableware and architectural elements.

Glass Coldworking & Engraving
Mondays :: April 26-May 24 :: 7-10PM
Cut, drill, carve, sandblast, grind and polish new and recycled glass bottles or blanks to make candle holders, vases or whatever your imagination will allow.

Introduction to Neon
Saturdays :: April 24-May 22 :: 10AM-1PM
Tuesdays :: April 27-May 25 :: 6-9PM
It's not just for honky-tonks anymore. More efficient that incandescent bulbs, light up your home with a kick-butt neon sculpture.

Sculpting in Clay
Wednesdays :: May 5-June 23 :: 7-10PM
Create it with clay from the earth! Learn to mold and shape clay to make creative sculptures of your own.

Introduction to Welded Sculpture
Mondays :: April 26-May 24 :: 7-10PM
Thursdays :: April 29-May 27 :: 7-10PM
Rummage through The Crucible's scrap yard to find interesting pieces of steel to incorporate into your interior or garden sculpture. Learn to fuse and cut metal using stick welding and torch cutting techniques.

Wednesdays :: May 5–June 23 :: 7-10PM
Start this amazing in-depth course in Mexican Papier-Mâché on Ciñco de Mayo! Reuse newspaper by forming and shaping it to create fantastical sculptures inspired by ancient traditions.

One Sheet of Plywood
Thursdays :: May 6–June 24 :: 6-10PM
Plywood is made of small scraps of wood so it reduces waste and yields more wood than solid lumber. Build anything you want out of a 4x8 sheet of plywood: a table, a chair, a desk or a bench. Whatever you conceive, your instructors will take you from project design to finish.

Stone Carving
Wednesdays :: April 28 – June 30 :: 7-10PM
Transform natural stone in this incredible course where both novices and masters will use hand and power tools to carve an amazing sculpture.

Here is an easy way to begin exploring in fire, metal or glass: our series of Mother Day Tasters. These three-hour workshops make great Mother’s Day gifts for Mom, a friend or yourself. Better yet, take a class together with Mom for a unique bonding experience. Try two skills on the same day and get a deal! Each individual who signs up for one morning and one afternoon Taster on the same day in separate disciplines, receive a $15 discount. *Youth 12 and older are welcomed when a parent or guardian enrolls with them.

Youth Summer Camps Are Taking Off!

With such an exciting menu of courses, our youth summer camps are filling up fast. Geared toward beginners, youth explore their creativity in classes like Woodturning, Radical Robots, Clay Mask Making and Glass Fusing. Four weeks are offered with morning and afternoon options. Pack them a lunch so they can stay all day!
