4. Santa Clara River Estuary Special Studies Meeting July 15
The City of Ventura has begun a state mandated process to evaluate the impacts of our reclaimed water discharge into the Santa Clara River Estuary. Three special studies will be conducted over the next two years that will focus on protection of the Estuary, expansion of our reclaimed water usage, and evaluation of our Santa Clara River Ecological Reserve wetlands.
The public is invited to participate in this process, which will result in improvements to our operations and our environment that could impact future utility rates. Your involvement may include participating in stakeholder meetings, review of technical reports and participating in action-oriented discussions. First meeting July 15.

6. City Manager’s Blog: Sleeping in cars... an issue to rally for or against?
Ventura City Manager Rick Cole gives immediate insight into breaking news. In his latest post, Cole considers the history, motives, and human impacts of a proposed ordinance being considered by the City Council Monday, July 13, which would regulate conditions under which homeless residents would be able to sleep in their own cars.
“Keeping Downtown safe and reducing and preventing homelessness are both vital issues. But they are not primarily political ones. No matter how many people show up at City Hall or how eloquent their pleas, the most important work to be done is not there. It is continuing to work together as a community to make progress where we agree and find ways to resolve differences where we don't.”
