1. Living within our Means: Understanding Ventura’s Future

What is it about Ventura that makes it a unique community?

How do we preserve a community for young families, retirees, students and entrepreneurs, with the fundamental needs desired by our residents; like public safety, housing, libraries, hospitals, fitness opportunities, cultural events, commerce, infrastructure, and a clean environment?

Now is the time we must confront the pressing question: what kind of a community do we want to be?

And who should take the lead to change our future?

The answer, is you.

7. City Manager’s Blog: Someone to turn to…Venturas new ombudsman

Ventura City Manager Rick Cole gives immediate insight into breaking news. In his latest post, Cole introduces the community to new business ombudsman Alex Herrera, and sheds light on the process that led to Herrera’s appointment.

“It isn’t easy in this economic climate for businesses to thrive. On top of everything else, sometimes it is City rules and regulations that can be a hindrance. While most city rules and regulations are there for a reason, how they are interpreted and enforced can make a huge difference – including whether a business opens its doors, closes its doors or moves to another community.

At the Ventura Economic Summit in May, participants came up with dozens of suggestions and recommendations to foster local prosperity.”
