Final Weeks of Summer! Take a trip to the Outback with Timothy as he performs this Saturday, August 2. Make some wildflower paper or noise makers in one of our Drop-In Activities in the Art Studios. Come see the last weeks of Tales from the Land of Gullah.

August Performance

The Story of the Didgeridoo

  • A Journey through the Outback with Timothy 
    Saturday, August 2
    11 a.m.

In this interactive family performance, Timothy tells a dream time story of the discovery of the didgeridoo, the Australian wind instrument, played for thousands of years by the Aborigines. Travel into the Australian outback, meeting animals and birds like the dingo and the kookaburra along the way. The story includes music and sounds of animals as well as a chance to play a didgeridoo! July's theme is Bugging Out!

Creepy crawlies, buzzing bugs and itsy bitsy insects come to Studio 10. Stop by and learn and play in our bonanza of bug fun!

Exploring Fort Baker

Go on our Bay Walk and learn about the waterfront and all its history and animal life!

  • See the old army batteries.
  • Check out an amazing views of Alcatraz, all three bridges and the Bay.
  • Take a glimpse at the marine life living under the rocks along the shore.

May 17 - September 14

Last weeks of Gullah! 

Children explore their own traditions through the traditions of others in Tales from the Land of Gullah. Here are some of the fun things you can do: 

  • Gullah Livin' - design a quilt, make music, and more.
  • Basket Name - find your Gullah nickname
  • Gullah Garden - learn how they planted their crops
  • Tellin' Forest - create and act out your own Gullah story.

Birthday Blast: Your Museum greeter provides music, face painting and a craft, plus basic decorations and goodie bags.
