Museum Closure

The Museum will be closed for general upkeep and maintenance

September 15 - September 30.

It will re-open again Wednesday, October 1st.

Tales from the Land of Gullah says goodbye on Saturday, September 14. Come and check out the exhibition before it leaves onto its next destination!

  • Gullah Livin' - design a quilt, make music, and more.
  • Basket Name - find your Gullah nickname
  • Gullah Garden - learn about how they planted their crops
  • Tellin' Forest - act out your own story with Gullah words

Special Exhibition

Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action™
October 4 - January 19, 2008

Jump into an action packed family adventure with Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action™ and get the whole family engaged in physical activity that is fun, simple and can be incorporated in daily life.
  • Surfing and Snowboarding - Choose one of four balance boards and see how long they can stay on for the ride.
  • Kung Fu Forest - Practice animal kung fu stances and learn the principals of strength, peace and respect.
  • Flycycle Riding - Keep the stars in the sky shining as you pedal the clouds on the bikes.
  • Canyon Climbing - Varying levels of climbs to test the strength of even the youngest of trail blazers.

Final Free Second Saturday, September 13, 1 - 5 p.m.

Free First Wednesdays Begins
Wednesday, October 1
 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Please join us for free on the first Wednesday of each month.
This free day replaces our Free Second Saturday afternoons, and allows us to provide a full day of creative and fun experiences for all.

Goblin Jamboree 2008

Children and their families are invited to come in costume and explore the Bay Area Discovery Museum, transformed into a haunted wonderland complete with games, attractions and live entertainment.

Fall Newsletter

In the Museum's on-going quest to conserve resources and maintain a green living environment, we will be offering our quarterly newsletter online.

By doing so we save:

  • 22 trees 
  • 4,800 of water
  • 20,240 lbs of waste
  • 1,764 lbs of greenhouse gases

A limited number of hard copies of the Fall Newsletter are still available at the Front Desk at the Museum.

    -Join instructor Stacy Walden for Music Together®, an internationally recognized approach to early childhood music development.
  • Outdoor Learning

    -Explore the nooks and crannies of Fort Baker and discover
    the creatures who live and grow here through hands-on art
    and science activities.
