Dear Colleague, The NY State Interior Design Title Act (Senate Bill S3659) has passed unanimously in both houses in Albany. Governor Paterson's signature is the final step in what has been a long process to achieve licensing of the title "Interior Designer" in New York State. Please take a moment and consider how YOU can make a difference by writing to support this legislation. Whether you are a practicing interior designer, an architect writing in support of your Gensler friends and co-workers, or an interested client or vendor, your support will help the Governor understand the importance of this issue. Our city and state, at the center of the design profession, should be on the list of places where "Interior Designer" is a title with meaning. We now need to send an avalanche of letters of support to Governor Paterson. Click here to download a model letter (MS Word Document), which should be sent to the Governor on your personal or company letterhead. Click here to download an overview of the bill (PDF) describing what it means to have the title of interior designer. Please contact me with any questions, and thank you for your support.
