Commissioner Karen Huber and I share an appointment to the Board of Directors of the Travis Central Appraisal District (TCAD).

TCAD's mission is to provide market value appraisals of all taxable property in Travis County in a fair and equitable and cost effective manner, and to provide services and assistance to the public and taxing jurisdictions.

TCAD’s primary responsibility is to develop an annual appraisal roll for use by taxing units in imposing ad valorem taxes on property in the district. TCAD is governed by its Board of Directors, who is primarily responsible for the hiring of the Chief Appraiser as well as approving the annual budget.

Applicants must reside within either Travis County Precinct 2 or 3 and submit:

A letter stating goals for service on the Board and a commitment to serve the complete two-year term and attend 80% or more of the monthly meetings of the Board;
A resume;
An Application for Appoinment; and
A Non-Conflict of Interest Affidavit.

All items listed above must be received no later than 5:00 PM on February 19, 2010.
