Tips of the Month
Remove your battery?
How many times have you heard me say that? If you have any issues the first thing to do is remove your battery.
It is similar to a hard reboot of your PC.
- Your phone isn't working?
- You have duplicate appointments?
- Your message indicator isn't working?
Doesn't matter what the issue is, the first line of attack is REMOVE YOUR BATTERY.
Hot Keys
If you are within an email and you hit the letter "L" it will "Reply to all"- Suretype Models hit the letter "A"
If you are within an email and you hit the letter "R" it will "Reply" just to the sender.

Trackball users
Did you know that if you have the vertical theme, like below, and you want to get to the main home screen you just hit the MENU button?
Where is the menu button? The button just to the left of the trackball, looks like the BlackBerry B.

How is it September already? Hope you all have a fantastic summer!
Woohoo - The BOLD has arrived.
Is everyone excited? RIM's version of the IPhone, called the Bold is finally here. I was lucky enough to demo it in the Spring and it is awesome! Better resolution, keyboard, browsing, speakers AND WIFI.
Only available through Rogers, other carriers will have to wait several more months.
My favourite Rogers vendor, Kelly @ Nedco, has a supply waiting for you. Feel free to contact her at 6046570577. She is located at 2nd Burrard. Tell her Swirl Solutions sent you!
Now the catch.....you cannot use WIFI on the Bold. I have researched and tried to find out more, so if anyone knows the reasons, please let me know. Just FYI, in theory you can connect your Bold to your home wireless and not use your carrier data or voice plan, just like a wireless laptop works. I have a Bold, it doesn't work. Rogers service that was 'suppose' to be on it is called UMA, Unlicensed Mobile Access. I will find out more and let you know in the October Newsletter.
Editing Word / Excel / PowerPoint
Can you believe we can FINALLY do this? I am thrilled to partner with DataViz the makers of Documents to Go.
With the introduction of the BlackBerry Bold and all future models, users will get a FREE stripped down editor, called Documents to Go. It will allow you to view and edit Word and PowerPoint files, however if you want to create Word or PowerPoint or do anything with Excel, you need to Upgrade for $69.99.
***For models prior to the Bold there will be a software upgrade available, which includes Documents to Go. Each carrier has to approved and post it. Anticipated sometime 2008.

Telus to discontinue ANALOG service
Effective September 15th TELUS analog wireless network will be discontinued in Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec As explained in previous newsletters, all TELUS clients with analog devices will need to upgrade a digital wireless device by September 15, 2008. Please contact TELUS representative @ 1.866.771.7292 to learn more about their digital solutions and to work together in planning the migration of your analog wireless device.

I have been searching for a great case for anyone that is in facilities, construction or generally just doesn't want to pay the $600.00+ replacement cost for dropping your BlackBerry. At last, a Swirl recommended solution, the OtterBox! Check it out!
