How do you know which browser to use when surfing the internet on your BlackBerry?

 
WAP Browser:provided by carrier and usually says the carriers name.  A WAP browser provides all of the basic services of a computer based web browser but simplified to operate within the restrictions of a mobile phone.  No content optimization for BlackBerry devices

BlackBerry Browser: used if you are on a BES server.  It is much more secure and you can view your intranet and internet and can be controlled by IT policies

Internet Browser: Internet access from the carrier- views HTML web pages.  Some service providers enable Internet Browser as part of the BlackBerry Internet Service.  Fasted available today (September 08)

WiFi Browser: currently only available on WiFi capable devices on the GSM network (Rogers/Fido). Please check with your carrier. No optimization is available but faster than wireless network.  No data plan is necessary and used for commercial WiFi Spots

Q:Can you record a conversation on a BlackBerry?

A: I could not find anything 3rd party application.  This is all I found.

Q: Does the Standby mode work on the 87xx model?

A: Standby mode does not work on this model.  I was under the understanding from some articles that this changed in the software upgrade but I just upgraded to the 4.5 software and it does not change this feature.  On the 87xx model it flips between profiles (Sounds)

Ok, so the latest news on the TOUCHSCREEN BLACKBERRY is that it is suppose to hit US markets in November, which means probably early next year for Canadians. It will be available on the Rogers and Fido networks first.  Check it out  (Leaked from a US carrier).

Q: What is "TalkSpot"? (formerly known as UMA)

A:Unlimited Voice calling when connected to WIFI, like your home wireless internet.  "TalkSpot" routes your voice call over the internet (rather than cell towers) to the Rogers/Fido network center (switch).

Bold follow-up:  What does it all mean?  Refer to Septembers issue for definitions. 

• WiFi works seemlessly on the Bold so you can use your wireless internet to surf, send emails, etc.
• Currently no "TalkSpot" on the Bold
