We wanted to start the New Year out with a bang, so there’s a little something for everyone in our latest update to TripIt. Enjoy!
Who’s Close?
Here’s another reason to connect to friends and colleagues on TripIt. Now it’s easy to find out when your travel plans will overlap, or when people you know will be traveling to your city. Our new Closeness Alerts are automatically displayed when you visit TripIt…you just need to have at least five TripIt Connections and your Home Location set…the rest is magic!
TripIt for Business
TripIt has always been designed for both your vacation and business trips. But we’ve had so much interest from business road warriors and corporate travel arrangers that we’ve expanded our business support even further. TripIt now supports bookings from business travel sites like Expedia Corporate, Orbitz for Business, Travelocity Business, Cliqbook, GetThere, Travelport, Sabre VirtuallyThere, and the major corporate travel agencies. Check-out our new TripIt for Business page for more details.
Add Meetings and Activities to Itineraries
We’ve added a new option that makes it easier to create complete itineraries for your trips. Now you can quickly add a client meeting, a vacation activity, or concert details to your itinerary. And if you include an address, it’s easy to quickly add a Map or Driving Directions, too. Just visit MyTrips and click Add Plans to see the new options.
TripIt “Friends” are now “Connections”
We’ve changed the name of “TripIt Friends” to “TripIt Connections.” Don’t get us wrong, we’re all for having friends, but we’ve found that many of you want to connect to your colleagues too, so “connections” seemed like a better name. You can view and add Connections from the new MyNetwork tab. Also new on the MyNetwork page, import your personal address book to see who else you know on TripIt, or to quickly send invites to new Connections.
More Stuff
Travel Arrangers can now create trips for other travelers, as you no longer have to be the primary traveler to create a trip. We fixed an annoying bug that displayed maps that didn’t match the driving directions. And we continue to add support for new booking sites based on the travel confirmations that you send us. We’re now over 100 booking sites supported, including the ability to process attached PDF files and to follow links to sites that display your booking details online.
As always, please keep your feedback coming to feedback@tripit.com. We love hearing from you.
Happy Travels!
