You know you are engaged when you lose track of the time you spend on a task, when you concentrate on a task to the exclusion of everything else and when you never give anything less than your best. Feeling engaged at work is a positive experience that can significantly affect the quality of a person's working life. Engagement is also beneficial for organisations, as engaged employees tend to be more productive than their disengaged co-workers.
Before trying to improve engagement however, it's important that organisations understand the current state of play. The best way to find out whether employees are engaged or not is to ask them! An engagement survey is not only a highly effective solution (developed by our expert organisational psychologists), the technology is both simple and cost-effective.

Although we often only come across psychopaths through entertainment, the media and in our nightmares, research has found that they exist in a world that is far closer to home than a Hollywood horror film.
Research has shown that the corporate world is also likely to include a larger proportion of psychopaths compared to those who are estimated to exist in the general population.
Senior Organisational Psychologist and Psychology Research and Development Manager, Jason Blaik, explains what a corporate psychopath is, the effects from working with one and how to identify them and manage the risk.

In the last 6 months few topics have garnered the interest of marketers and recruiters like the explosive growth of Web 2.0. Before delving into too much detail, it's worth offering a definition for what it is all about and where better to go than one of the forerunners of the concept, Wikipedia.
"... the phrase Web 2.0 can refer to a trend in web design and development - a perceived second generation of web-based communities and hosted services (such as social-networking sites, wikis, blogs, and folksonomies), which aim to facilitate creativity, collaboration, and sharing between users."
In this article, Adam Shay, Managing Director of Australia's foremost employer marketing agency, The Face, discusses the inherent risks and opportunities that come with recruiters and marketers using Web 2.0.

Do you know what your employees really think? Onetest recently surveyed over 4000 working Australians to delve deeper into their opinions on social/environmental responsibilities, health, career progression, recruitment processes and more. Before releasing the full report, we thought we'd give you a sneak peak into some of the findings:
 |
69% of respondents indicated that a company's maternity/paternity leave package would impact on their decision to select a particular employer |
 |
60% of respondents would accept another offer even if they had already signed an employment contract with another employer |
 |
Money is not everything, but it is the single greatest reason for leaving a current employer (no real surprise there!) |
 |
Only 44% of university degree holders actually work in their field of study |
 |
Only 5% of people believed it was not important at all for their employer to be environmentally responsible |
 |
1-2 non-genuine sick days a year is acceptable to over 53% of Australian employees. |
Stay tuned for details on how you can download the full report!

Colmar Brunton is Australia's largest independent market research company with offices across Australia and Singapore.
For the graduate team at Colmar Brunton, their biggest concerns were the length of time taken to fill positions and the constraint on resources due to manual recruitment and paper-based assessment processes. They were also after an objective means for identifying the best talent amongst candidates.
Find out how Onetest assisted Colmar Brunton to recruit some of "the best employees they have ever hired".
