Introduction to Needlepoint
 This 2 1/2 hour class is for anyone who wants a quick and easy introduction to needlepoint. It would also be a great refresher for anyone who hasn't stitched in a long time. Topics covered are how to thread a needle, start and stop a thread, as well as how to do five easy stitches. The cost includes all supplies and instruction. Note: You must reserve your space 10 days prior to class to give us time to personalize the canvas with the initial of your choice. Do-It-Yourself Canvas Embellishment
This lecture class is designed for you to envision using stitches and fibers to create your own masterpiece. Let Linda Corirossi explain her thought process for embellishing painted canvases. Wednesday, May 19 9:30-11:30 $30
Chicago Water Tower
 Own your very own piece of Chicago history. Stitch this wonderful Chicago Water Tower canvas guided by the expertise of teacher Linda Corirossi. The line drawn design (approximately 7 X 11" on 18 mesh) uses lovely fibers and inventive stitches to reproduce this local landmark in exquisite detail.

Spotlight on Our Staff
This month we're starting a new feature in our newsletter: introducing members of our staff. In addition to being accomplished needlepointers, you will be amazed at the variety and depth of their skills.
Mary Jo Eckhart has worked at The Canvasback for over 8 years. She's the staff member who manages special orders for the shop and keeps track of everything that's ready for pickup. For many of you, she was your first needlepoint instructor and taught you in the Beginners class. She's taught a variety of other classes too: charted designs, painted canvases, beading, and advanced stitching techniques.
Mary Jo continues to attend classes at Callaway, the ANG Seminar, NAN and local guilds. In addition, this year she's president of the North Suburban Needle Arts Guild,a group who share interests in a variety of needle-related art forms from needle lace to wearable art.
In the past couple years, she's focused more on design than stitching techniques. Her talents have been most recently recognized at the Noyes Cultural Center in Evanston, IL, an art center committed to the
work of emerging artists, where she was asked to exhibit her "Journal Cloth", a year-long exploration of events in her life chronicled in needlepoint, found objects, fabric, paper, paint, and other mediums. Congratulations Mary Jo!
When she's not rolling up her sleeves to stitch, paint, or try a new craft, she likes to ski, swim, travel, walk her cocker spaniel Jack, dote on her two sons and daughter-in-law and enjoy fine dining with her husband. She's one BUSY lady!
