CASA’s Summer Campaign
With the help of his CASA volunteer, Kyle and the great uncle who stood up to take care of him received necessary services. The CASA advocate located resources for daycare, researched early childhood learning programs, and campaigned for needed behavioral assistance. After two years of support and dedication, Kyle was eventually adopted by his great uncle. His CASA volunteer took part in the celebration and will never forget the moment that Kyle hugged him and shared that he too was part of the family. As we celebrate our 25th year of serving children, we thank you for your generosity and ask for your financial support. Your gift will help us continue our mission of empowering abused and neglected children with a volunteer’s voice in court. Please help today by donating online or by mailing your contribution to the CASA office.

Volunteer Spotlight: Patrick Murphy
CASA was proud to honor volunteer Patrick Murphy for his commitment as an advocate for children. A retired military officer and consultant, Pat has volunteered with CASA since April 2009. He is currently an advocate for a young child involved in the foster care system in Wyandotte County. The mother is dealing with her own issues related to mental illness. Pat has developed a safe, trusting relationship with the young child. He has also been able to build a positive relationship with the social workers, therapists, family members, school personnel and court staff. Good communication and critical facts help those in authority make better and more informed decisions and result in better outcomes for the children. Susan Hancock, Wyandotte County Program Director and Pat’s supervisor, says he displays “great sensitivity and a practical approach” on his cases. Congratulations to Pat and thanks for your commitment to CASA’s children! Please contact Volunteer Recruitment and Education Director, Nina Kimbrough-Smith at 913.715.4042 to find out how you too can become a Court Appointed Special Advocate and help a child find a safe and permanent home.
