"In Good Company" - Member Spotlight
CASA would like to thank First National Bank for participating in the "In Good Company" Club. Their corporate involvement is empowering two young children with a year-long match to a volunteer advocate. This community bank cares about kids and we'd like to share more about their work:
Established in Kansas in 1993, First National Bank is part of one of the oldest and most successful financial organizations in the midwest, First National of Nebraska. Since its founding, the bank has established an outstanding reputation in the Kansas City community and has grown to approximately $800 million in assets.
First National Bank serves many leading government and corporate entities in the Kansas City metropolitan area and offers a wide variety of services, from commercial lending, wealth management, private banking, small business and individual accounts. The bank is also proud to be a visible part of the communities it serves, and has developed a Community Outreach Committee to foster their commitment to encourage charitable giving.

Volunteer Spotlight - Linda Phillips
A retired elementary school teacher, Linda Phillips continues her dedication to children. A CASA volunteer since April 2008, Linda has advocated for 4 children in 3 cases. Each time, her loyalty to the children has been clearly evident. The judge and other professionals praise her thoroughness in gathering information and her detailed court reports.
Linda recently concluded her advocacy on behalf of two young brothers. Ages 1 and 3, they were brought into custody when found alone in a filthy apartment. Linda made sure they were in a safe, stable household, and that their physical and emotional needs were met. She kept in contact with court and foster care personnel as well as day care teachers, the boys’ father, and their paternal grandmother.
Fortunately for the boys, their grandmother was a consistent placement. These little boys who started out scared, not very verbal, and had nightmares every night, slowly evolved into playful children who were curious, had good appetites, loved to cuddle, and explore their world. In July 2010, the grandmother formally adopted them, and Linda was privileged to share in the happy outcome!
Thank you, Linda, for your caring commitment to CASA’s children!

Reminder CASA emails available for CASA Advocates
Due to expanded options offered by our website provider, CASA is now able to offer volunteer advocates their own CASA-specific email address ending in @casajwc.org.
Benefits to Using CASA-specific Email Address Include:
-
The new email addresses may be used to correspond with your program supervisor, other CASA office personnel, and case-related email communication.
-
You will be able to receive all CASA generated emails and e-newsletters.
-
It will also promote an email consistency that will enable professionals (social workers, attorneys, school personnel, law enforcement) to identify volunteers as connected to CASA.
-
Additionally, the confidentiality statement, your name and CASA volunteer status will automatically be included on the CASA-provided email address.
-
Volunteers will no longer need to use their personal or business email accounts for CASA activities.
If at any time you decide you would like a CASA specific email address, or if you have questions, contact Eileen Hainline at ehainline@casajwc.com or call 913.715.4032.
