A Far Out Night of Fun Was Had at Hops & Barley Ball!
Visit the event photo gallery by Bob Compton Photography.
Friends and supporters of CASA had a groovy great time at our annual auction on Friday, September 22nd. The Hops & Barley Ball, a Night of Disco was held at Studio Dan Meiners. We welcomed 260 guests and brought together many corporate partners who helped to underwrite the evening, including Performance Contracting Group as presenting sponsor.
The 70's disco theme had guests donning their disco duds and enjoying the mirror balls as they shopped the silent auction, savored a retro-inspired menu, and danced the night away to the live music of Boogie Wonderland! An on-site photo booth captured the great attire and dance moves!
Guests had the opportunity to participate in a wine pull where they competed in an "across the decades" trivia game for a chance to take home a great bottle of wine. The best trivia players also competed for the grand prize of a weekend getaway in a choice of properties from ExecuStay Midwest. Also fun was CASA's Giving Game Board which held a picture puzzle to be revealed and solved during the evening. With correct answer, guests enjoyed a Disco Hustle performed by dancers from Allegro Ballroom.
"The fun and energy surrounding this event was electric," says Alyssa Perbeck, CASA's Development Director. "We truly enjoyed hosting this event for our volunteers, friends and supporters, who every day make an impact for the children we together serve."
With sponsorships, the event raised more than $123,000 to support CASA advocacy programs for abused and neglected children which will directly benefit CASA kids and the continuation of ongoing programming. The organization would like to thank presenting sponsor Performance Contracting Group, as well as lead sponsors Lee Jeans, Lockton Companies, Smith & Loveless, and the Greater Kansas City Alumnae Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta. Thanks also to the many other corporate partners and friends for success of the evening.

Friends of CASA volunteers served dozens of lunches to the kids and families.

CASA Trainees Attend Court Night!
Recently our CASA volunteer trainees attended court night with Judge Kathleen Sloan. Trainees learned about the court process and timeline. They also discussed GAL attorney roles and guidelines the court uses to determine whether a child is a Child In Need of Care. We are anxiously awaiting for these trainees to complete their National CASA online training and be ready to advocate for one of the many children on our waiting list.
If you are interested in joining our November or January training class (which includes online sessions), contact Nina Kimbrough at 913.715.4042. Classes are forming now!
Bring a Smile to a Child this Holiday Season!
We need your help to bring joy to children this Holiday Season. Adopt-A-CASA Child provides holiday gifts
for abused children served by CASA of Johnson & Wyandotte Counties, and helps to make the holiday season brighter for children who might otherwise be without gifts this year. Do you know an individual, family, business, church or civic group that would like
to help? You may also volunteer at our annual CASA Kids Holiday Party. If you are interested in these holiday giving activities for special children, please contact Nina Kimbrough at 913.715.4042.
