This year, recent alumni have revived a longtime SF State tradition of launching their own theatre companies. At least four new groups have produced shows in San Francisco, bursting with a creative and entrepreneurial spirit. Embodying the University’s do-it-yourself ethic, these young alumni are taking risks in efforts to bring new plays to audiences. They follow in the footsteps of past alumni such as Mark Jackson, Ed Decker and Patrick O’Sullivan, whose distinctive groups have attracted worldwide audiences and widespread critical acclaim.
