Tired?
Good sleep is vital for anyone interested in a good quality of life, yet about half of Americans report sleep difficulty.
Here are some important tips for getting a better night’s sleep:
• Avoid caffeinated beverages in the afternoon, if not completely • Limit heavy meals or large amounts of fluid close to bedtime • Stop using nicotine products • Get regular exercise, but do so in the daytime, preferably the afternoon • Establish a regular sleep time and wake time schedule • Try a relaxing routine like a hot bath before bedtime • Buy a new mattress if yours is over 10 years old. • Use your bed only for sleep and sex • If you don’t fall asleep within 15 minutes, get out of bed. Go back to bed when you are sleepy. For more information about sleep and how to wake up feeling refreshed, check out the website for the National Sleep Foundation www.sleepfoundation.org.
Sweet dreams!
