Yoga for Healthy Joints

Do you want to try Yoga, but feel too afraid or intimidated to get started?

We have the class for you.  Certified Yoga Therapist, Laura Kupperman, has developed a yoga class for people recovering from back, knee or shoulder pain.

Starting in January, we plan to offer a series of 10 classes to help you enjoy Yoga in a safe and comfortable environment.  Classes will be small  (8 people) to allow for individual modification and varying ability levels.

Would you prefer a lunch time class or something right after work?  Let us know what works best for you by emailing us:  info@altatherapies.com

"My lower back is as strong as ever.

Joe - Back in Action

I now squat the full rack of weights on our home gym, and I do 20 reps per set.  It is only 240 pounds for the whole stack (so I ain’t breakin’ any records), but it is a far cry from the 135 pounds I started with, which became too much for me (so I stopped squats all together) before I saw you the first time.

I am absolutely ecstatic that our paths have crossed.  I was feeling old and tired before you did your magic on my back.  Now if you could only do something about my aging vision." Thanks again

Welcome to our inaugural electronic ALTA newsletter.
We hope you enjoy this new format and we look forward to your feedback.

New Features at ALTA

Alta Physical Therapy is excited to announce a new feature on our website which allows our patients and physicians to access a wealth of information about many common orthopedic conditions.

You will now have access to informational booklets, summarized current research, and FAQs on hundreds of injuries from plantar fasciitis to whiplash.  Our new website has amazing illustrations with information about what causes specific injuries and nonsurgical and surgical treatment options.

Web Samples

Below are examples of information available on our site. Click if you want to find out more about the specific topic or visit our website to “Learn About Your Injury”,  choose a body part, then choose a specific injury and explore.
  • Strengthening the deep muscles of the neck can significantly decrease chronic neck pain in 6 weeks or less!

  • By using tape to keep your kneecap in the right position, people with kneecap pain can return to pain free exercise sooner!
  • People who repetitively sprain their ankles can significantly decrease their risk of future sprains by doing simple one leg balancing exercises!
  • North Americans are increasingly deficient of Vitamin D.  Deficiency can lead to many conditions such as arthritis and weaker bones.  Eat foods rich in Vitamin D and take advantage of Colorado’s 300+ days of sun to stay healthy.

Common Problems

Plantar fasciitis is a common problem that is actually a sprain of the plantar ligament. If you had a sprained ankle, would you stretch the injured ligament as part of your rehab? NO. So, consider supporting the sprained area as it heals to get faster and better improvement.

Ignoring One Problem...
Can Cause a Virtual Cascade of Troubles.

Imagine this:  If your knee hurts with running, you limp, putting unusual stress on your low back.  And, as you limp, you also swing one arm more than the other, and the imbalance travels up the spine, causing an ache in the upper back.  What started as a pain in the knee has created multiple aches and pains.  Where will it end?

At ALTA we treat the whole patient.
We take the time to thoroughly evaluate each patient so we get to the root of the problem.  The detective work pays off.  We address the knee, yes, but we look at what is causing the knee to hurt and treat that, while also teaching you how to take an active role in your recovery.

So Make an appointment at ALTA –you’ll be glad you did.
