Napoleon Wallace is currently attending the Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC-Chapel Hill, pursuing an MBA in Sustainability and Finance. Prior to business school, Napoleon worked as a sell-side Energy Research Analyst for Wachovia Capital Markets and as a Research Associate on the Kenan Institute's Center for Sustainable Enterprise Consulting team. Napoleon joined the HIP team to marry his investment expertise with his passion for sustainability, and improve his acumen for investing based on sustainable considerations. Personally, he is a proponent of high civic engagement, and he works in a board-advisory capacity with two regional social enterprises in his home state of North Carolina. GO HEELS!
Michael Reading is interested in how the private sector can and is contributing to the public good. He comes to HIP Investor having previously served as a Fulbright Scholar in Toronto, Canada where his research focused on the changing relationships between nonprofit agencies serving immigrants to the United States and their government funders. Michael is a graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, where he studied political science and economics.
Susie Heller is a Green MBA candidate at Dominican University. Since graduating from Wellesley College with a BA in Peace and Justice Studies, she has worked to promote organic farming and has helped to conserve over 9000 acres of land in California. She recently returned from a project in South Africa where she was hired to launch an international non-profit dedicated to facilitating local sustainable enterprise. Susie believes that business is one of the most powerful tools to enact social and environmental justice and is thrilled to be a part of the HIP team.
Adam Jagelewski joined Pricewaterhouse Coopers in 2006 as an Associate Consultant in Vancouver, Canada. Building from his experience at PwC and a BA in Economics from the University of British Columbia, Adam soon became interested in social impact - in particular, the movement towards more rigorous impact measurement and evaluations, and the link between social and environmental impact and profit. Adam is now focusing this stage of his career on becoming a young catalyst for corporate social responsibility - and, in particular, diving into the world of HIP investing as well as strategic philanthropy.
Varun Parmar is focusing his MBA on sustainable enterprise and investments; he is a 2009 candidate at UNC's Kenan-Flagler Business School. Prior to business school he was a social entrepreneur and then a systems consultant with Morgan Stanley's trading division. He spent his summer at Good Capital, a social enterprise venture capital firm in San Francisco where he performed due diligence on the firm's investment pipeline and also developed investment strategies in social capital markets. Beyond business school, he aspires to research, develop and manage products in capital markets -- creating sustainable, HIP investments for all!
