ARTS DAY AT THE CITY -  November 8, 2013

Friends of the Arts, including the TAPA Advocacy Committee and Toronto Arts Council, are hosting the 4th annual Arts Day at the City on November 8.

A press conference will be held in the City Hall Members' Lounge, beginning at 9:30 am.
The press conference will highlight results from TAPA's Audience Report as well as the arts community's 2014 budget position.

Toronto's arts sector is taking the following message to City Council:

  • Thank you -  for increased funding approved in 2013 and for the commitment to reach $25 per capita funding over 3 years.
  • Your Support is Making a Difference - there is already measurable impact from new funding
  • This is Just the Beginning: Toronto’s per capita investment in the arts is still just $19.62, well short of the $25 per capita target. We are asking for an additional $6 million in the 2014 budget to keep us on track.

In addition to the press conference, arts community members will be meeting with individual City Councillors to encourage continued support.

What can you do?

Attend the press conference.  All are welcome.

Take a photo of yourself or your art project with the attached This is Just the Beginning sign and distribute widely through social media.

Call, tweet or email your Councillor to let them know you support Council's $25 per capita arts funding commitment.  To find your Councillor, click here.
