The Deer Path Art League makes Gorton its New Home!

Starting the first week of August, the Deer Path Art League office and gallery will be making its new home on the second floor of the Gorton Community Center.  For the first time, the Deer Path Art League Gallery, office, and class rooms will be under the same roof.  We are extremely excited for all of the new changes that lay ahead and the opportunity to work more closely with our friends at Gorton.

54th Annual Art Fair on the Square

The Art Fair on the Square festival in Lake Forest celebrates its 54th anniversary on August 31 and September 1, 2008. On Sunday and Monday of Labor Day weekend, Market Square in Lake Forest is transformed into a first-class outdoor art showcase by the 180 exhibiting artists. Admission and parking are free.

Produced by the Deer Path Art League, the Art Fair on the Square is ranked as one of the top outdoor art festivals in the Midwest. It draws the top artists from across the nation. Exhibiting artists travel from as far away as California, Florida, and Maine. Many of the public’s favorite local artists exhibit as well.

In order to ensure a superior art event with only the highest quality of original artwork, this is a juried art show in which all of the local and national artists were selected from over six hundred of applicants by a panel of three jurors.

Exhibiting artist work in a wide range of mediums including: ceramics, fiber, jewelry, glass, painting, photography, wood, mixed media and sculpture. There is something for everyone, from the casual art enthusiast to the seasoned collector.

Unlike a formal gallery setting, each of the artists at the festival is available to meet with the public and talk about their artwork. Visitors can learn about their art and what inspires them, and of course purchase original pieces directly from the artist.

Festival Hours are Sunday, August 31, 10 am - 5 pm, and Monday, September 1, 10 am - 4 pm. The festival is held on Western Avenue and Market Square next to the train station in Lake Forest.
