Message from the President

Welcome to the second edition of the new EUTO Newsletter. The Board of EUTO hope that you are having a successful summer and that your organisation or business is not being affected too much by what is known as the 'credit crunch' or public sector cuts in funding. However, given reports from a number of countries, it is more than likely that you are feeling some impact and are facing challenging times.

In a few weeks' time, EUTO members and colleagues will be meeting together in Nottingham and London for a week-long Study Visit to look at Sustainable tourism development: Attractions and events as catalysts for regeneration and social change . From experience of other EUTO events of this type, we can guarantee that discussion in business and social sessions will include current challenges as well as exchanges of best practice from most recent times. You will find more information about the Study Visit in this newsletter and we would encourage you to look at the programme and book up for the full week.

Editor's Note

For many of you, I know this is a busy time of the year. Traditionally, summer is the time when people choose to travel for holidays and a bit of a break from the hum drum normalities of life. EUTO members around the continent should also be gearing up to their event of the year – the annual study visit and convention which this year is being hosted in England. I am certain that Vicky Martin and Phil Evans have prepared an interesting and varied programme for this year and we look forward to welcoming our regular members and some new faces in London and Nottingham in September. Meanwhile enjoy this second issue of the EUTO Newsletter.
