Welcome from the Upper Bay Charter Captains

Thank you for your membership in the Upper Bay Charter Captains Association.
Your participation is very important to us.

Presidents Report

First, I would like to thank everyone for the thoughts and prayers for my self and my family. It was very much needed and appreciated. I like to take this time to remind everyone of the need to be CPR certified not only for your business but also for your own friends and family.

For the order of business in regards to the association I would like to ask if anyone in the association has anything they would like to be addressed or need answers too. If so just email or call me directly and I will try to have the answers by the next meeting. If there is a topic you would like to talk about at an upcoming meeting again email or call.

The meetings I would like to keep as short as possible and the content to be of serious issues , so they can be spoken on and handled in a manner in which all of our interests are taken into account.
I would like to start two committees at the next meeting one of which is a by laws committee, this we are required to advise the membership 30 days in advance if there are any changes they will be posted and voted on 30 days later.
The other would be a committees to research the sewage issues in certain areas of the bay. The captains operating from Baltimore north have taken a lot of bad press in regards to the water quality recently and I would like to see what if anything is going on. I have written a letter to MDE addressing this issue and am awaiting a response.
Additionally, I would like to remind everyone about your TWICS card use MUST be in compliance by Sept 08.The TWICS web site is www.tsa.gov/twic or phone is 866 347 8942.

Just a reminder the raffle tickets are in and we really need more sold then in recent history. We are at a cross roads where money is going to be needed and this is one of the ways we raise money.

This is the first time we have tried this electronic newsletter if there is a problem receiving or you have ideas to improve it please notify me. This letter will also be sent out via the mail so some of the enclosed information may be dated by the time it is received by some but it is a trial run. Anyone needing the letters sent out monthly be regular mail or horse and buggy you will need to contact myself or Mike Smolek.

Again thanks for your time and prayers if you are not satisfied with the few changes we have made or are trying come to a meeting.
