1. Choose activities.
Have each member of your family pick a group activity that
incorporates exercise. It could be a simple game of tag, a day of kayaking in
the bay or combining biking with your Saturday errands.
2. Schedule your
activities!
Get your calendar out now and schedule your activities. If
they are on your calendar months in advance it is harder to skip them. Even if
you don’t know exactly what you are going to do in September put it on your
calendar-you can figure it out in August!
3. Do it!
While Nike says just do it, that doesn’t mean it can’t be
fun. Add a little competition to your activity by making a game out of whatever
you do and let the winner decide on dinner or pick a movie.

Don't bite off more
than you can chew!
Don’t
try to do too much at once. The best place to start is the grocery store. The
next time you go shopping do two things.
1. Don't buy.
Take one of your “junk”
items off your shopping list. Whether it is cookies, chips or ice cream, remember: if you don't buy it, you can't eat it.
2. Buy
Spend extra time in the produce section and buy something you haven't tried before or extra of something you know you love.
Before your shopping trip, sit down with your family for suggestions. Start here for a few ideas.
After your shopping trip, research together ways to prepare your
new food. To find hundreds of recipes and food sites, do a search such as "Brussel sprout recipes" or dust off some of those old cook books!

DO IT TOGETHER!
Have every member of your family or group think of a group activity that incorporates exercise. It could be kayaking in the bay, biking to
do your Saturday errands, hiking trails you haven’t seen before, a mini tennis tournament or a game of touch football.
For a little extra interest-make your activity a competition and let the winner pick that night's dinner or movie.
Schedule it! Get your calendars out and write in your activities. Having them on your calendar will help ensures that you do them! So even if
there is a thunderstorm on the day of your planned kayaking trip you still have
the day blocked off to do an indoor activity like bowling or Twister.
