| Chattanooga, TN, Envisions a Sustainable City |

Nearly 500 residents of Chattanooga, TN, gathered together last week to envision a more sustainable city in an innovative forum that gave a voice to all residents. Organized by the Chattanooga Green Committee and the Office of Mayor Ron Littlefield (left), the meeting focused on guided tabletop discussions that recorded and ranked ideas to shape the city's Climate Action Plan.

Last week Montgomery County, MD announced new legislation that would make green homes mandatory, and Los Angeles and San Francisco, CA vied for the title of greener than thou.

The Bush Administration proposed new fuel economy standards last week to raise mileage on new cars by 2015. Yet some states are protesting language in the proposal that would bar California and other states from regulating greenhouse gas emissions from cars.
