| In the Spotlight: Local Climate Action Week
|
|
ICLEI members: Make your voice heard with President-elect Obama and the next Congress by getting involved in Local Climate Action Week, December 8-12. During this week, the climate protection priorities -- and accomplishments -- of local governments will be spotlighted for federal leaders. You can take part in two different ways:
1. Host a local media event to showcase your successes, publicly endorse the Climate Action Blueprint, and call for federal support for the critical role local governments play in climate protection. >> Learn More
2. Endorse the Climate Action Blueprint. Even if you can't host an event, your local elected officials can simply endorse the Blueprint -- without passing a resolution! -- which outlines the actions and policies needed from the federal government to address climate change, all through the local government lens. The Blueprint will be released to President-elect Obama and Congress. Click the link to learn more about why your participation is crucial.

“We need to stop seeing our cities as the problem and start seeing them as the solution. Because strong cities are the building blocks of strong regions, and strong regions are essential for a strong America. That is the new metropolitan reality and we need a new strategy that reflects it.”
--President-elect Obama, speaking before the U.S. Conference of Mayors in June 2008
