newsletter_content_image-capitolbuilding.gif Senate Blocks Action on Federal Climate Policy…for now

Last Friday the Senate blocked the Climate Security Act sponsored by Senators Boxer (D-CA), Lieberman (I-CT), and Warner (R-VA).  Climate change policy is expected to be high on the agenda for the next President and Congress. In the meantime, despite the final vote there is finally momentum and action in Washington after years of sitting on the sidelines and standing in the way. What is true for the first time: meaningful, comphrensive federal climate policy is within reach.

In the News
content_image-hybridcar.gif Media coverage of last week’s Senate vote on climate policy is bountiful – just do a quick Google News search. Or listen to the National Public Radio story.
Meanwhile, as the country bakes in record heat and floods, this week’s New York Times takes a look at who is suffering the most pain at the pump. Turns out rural parts of the country are suffering most, though it’s safe to say at $4 average we could all use a little relief. Read the story.
It's no wonder that the Washington Post has chronicled how these soaring prices are affecting everything from errands to vacations in an appropriately titled story: "Fuel Prices Challenge Cars' Reign." Read the story.
