Shelter Construction Update
![]() Look at the progress so far on our new shelter! With yourhelp, we hope to start using it in time for winter. So, are you interested in a one-time volunteer project? Come help us with one or more of the following: install the siding on the front and south sides of the new shelter building, frame the front door, install gutters and install the upstairs windows. Critters of the Month
Do you have a place in your home for new friends all decked out in black?
There is nothing as sweet as watching them together.
wonderful companion for you and a male rabbit. As with guinea pigs, a bonded rabbit pair is a heartwarming sight and no more work than having one bun alone.
Treats aren't just for humans! Our favorite treats for bunnies are small pieces of fresh fruit -- a grape, a half-inch slice of banana, a quarter-inch slice of a small apple, a bite-size piece of watermelon. Rabbits enjoy these just as much as the packaged treats you can purchase at the store, and they are much healthier.
Get down on the floor with your bunny and use treats as a way to connect and bond. A shy rabbit may come each day a little closer to you as she starts to associate you with treats. For an outgoing rabbit, treats can form the basis for games and an excuse to climb on you to look for the treat. Bunnies can learn words like "treat" so they know its time for the daily game. And treats are essential if you decide to do clicker training: just make the treats very small so you don't give too much in any single day. Never heard of clicker training? Click here to check it out! And here's a sweet video of what clicker-trained bunnies can do.

Time for a Tune-Up!
Need the nails done? How about those scent glands? Our bunny and piggy salon can help! Drop by our Seattle store (14317 Lake City Way NE) the first Saturday of every month from 2-4pm. (Next date 11/5/11) Nail clipping, scent gland cleaning and a general look over (rabbits): $15. Just nails (guinea pigs and rabbits): $10. Remember, those nails should be checked every 6-8 weeks -- so see you soon! Winter is Coming You'll never know the great personality of your rabbit unless he is warm and comfortable inside your home. We know how our house rabbits like to sit on the floor heating vent or in front of the fireplace. If your rabbit is living outdoors, we encourage you to bring him indoors. If not, he must be provided with a heat lamp or some source of heat. We have rescued rabbits who had lost parts of their ears due to frost bite. And when their water freezes, they can die from dehydration. If you need advice on setting up an inside place for your rabbit, please contact us. We're a Green Business! Rabbit Meadows has been recognized as one of Seattle's Green Businesses! In addition to our care of animals, we are making a low impact on the environment. ![]() |
