Celebrate Safe Communities is crime prevention done the right way— local people working with local law enforcement to address local issues! CSC is brought to you by the National Crime Prevention Council and the Bureau of Justice Assistance at the U.S. Department of Justice. It was developed in 2008 in partnership with the National Sheriffs’ Association to promote crime prevention efforts, enhance public awareness of vital crime prevention and safety messages, and recruit year-round support for ongoing prevention activities that help keep neighborhoods safe from crime and prepared for any emergency.2011 Incentives

CSC Partners
CauseWay Working with the National Crime Prevention Council and Celebrate Safe Communities, CauseWay offers free graphic design support until August 31, 2011, for agencies to personalize all of the print resources in the CSC toolkit. The CauseWay agency is a full-service marketing agency that works with nonprofit organizations and government agencies.
The print materials are part of the CSC toolkit that sites received in 2010 and new sites receive in 2011. They come in three formats for easy customization. Contact information, logos, and web addresses can all be inserted for FREE by the CauseWay agency.
By combining CSC Toolkit public service ads for radio and the localized complementary print tools, you can help prevent crime. To receive this free support, please contact Marsha Hott at 202-261-4167 by August 31, 2011.

Crime prevention practitioners have been waiting too long for national recognition of their expertise. That's why the National Crime Prevention Association and the National Crime Prevention Council, in partnership with the Bureau of Justice Assistance, U.S. Department of Justice, have developed a certification program to do just that. National Training and Technical Assistance Center
The National Crime Prevention Council, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance, will provide training and technical assistance to newly hired law enforcement officers and crime prevention practitioners. Our goal is to provide officers and practitioners - hired under Recovery Act monies - with skill-based training, tools, and resources to assist them in executing their jobs effectively, which, in turn, keeps communities safe. Introducing the new McGruff.org
The National Crime Prevention Council is excited to launch the redesigned McGruff.org's Milstein Child Safety Center's website. With a new look, new interactive features, and awesome animations, McGruff and Scruff® will be sure to teach your children how to stay safe in a fun and cool learning environment.
The website features fun new games, animated videos, and an advice tab called "Ask McGruff." Ask McGruff is an exciting feature that allows children to submit questions to McGruff about issues from bullying to neighborhood safety.

McGruff turns 31!
July 1, 2011, marks the 31st birthday of McGruff the Crime Dog. He came into the national spotlight to let the public know that the police can’t prevent crime alone.
Throughout the month of July, communities across the nation helped celebrate McGruff’s birthday through NCPC’s Celebrate Safe Communities initiative. Over 12 celebrations in four states featured safety-themed games and activities, balloons, and birthday cake.
Throughout his 137 dog years, McGruff and NCPC have worked to inspire and educate the nation on how to keep their communities safe from crime. NCPC continues to “Take A Bite Out Of Crime®” with new crime prevention initiatives to battle rising concerns such as elder abuse, intellectual property theft, and cyberbullying.
NCPC CEO Honored by 2011 Brava! Women Business Achievement Awards Congratulations to Ann M. Harkins, president and CEO of the National Crime Prevention Council, for being recognized as a SmartCEO winner this year!
The 2011 Brava! Women Business Achievement Awards recognize the outstanding achievements of 25 female leaders in the Washington, DC, Baltimore, and Philadelphia markets. Ms. Harkins is featured in the July edition of SmartCEO Magazine.
