Hello Mystery Readers,

My wife and I recently returned from a vacation in Barcelona, Valencia, Granada, Cordoba and Seville, Spain. I took some good notes and am thinking that some of the third John Santana novel might take place in Spain.

The weather was warm and dry and the sites magnificent, but it's good to be home and back at work on the draft of the second Santana novel, which I hope to have completed soon. I considered using "The Killing Jar" as the title of the second book, however, there are a number of recent books that have used the same or similar title, so I'm now reconsidering and will let you know what I decide.

I'll be meeting with a couple of book clubs in September as well as appearing at a number of scheduled events.

On Monday, August 25th, I'll be discussing White Tombs and signing books with the mystery book club at the Maple Grove, MN Barnes & Noble starting at 7:00 p.m.

I'll be signing books at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in Albuquerque, NM on September 5th, and on the 6th I'll be at the Borders bookstore in Santa Fe, NM.

On September 11th, I'll be reading, discussing and signing copies of White Tombs from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the Merriam Park Library in St. Paul, MN.

Then, on September 18th, from 11:00-2:00 p.m., I'm returning to the Barnes & Noble - Chateau Theatre bookstore in Rochester, MN for a book signing. I sold out the last time I was there in June and am hoping for similar results this time.

If you have friends and family who are mystery readers, please let them know about the events, and stop by if you're in the area. I'd love to see you. For more more information including phone numbers and addresses, please check my website at

I was recently informed by Jim Cox, the editor of Midwest Book Review, that Harriet Klausner's excellent review of White Tombs is in their August online issue and is posted on their website. Klausner, who is also Amazon's number one reviewer, called White Tombs a "superb police procedural starring a fascinating lead detective" and gave the book a "5 Star" rating.
