MTN & South High School: PSAs

Video Voices PSA Shows 2008-09
MTN has been a partner with Minneapolis South High since 1987 in the Voices program. Voices is a social studies class at South, but a vital part of that class is the partnership with MTN. MTN trains students in the Voices class in camera and editing, and the students make documentaries and PSA's on important social issues.

VOICES stands for Values, Options, Issues and ChoicEs in Society.

Voices students formed groups to plan and produce a short PSA, a public service announcement, about some cause. The idea here is to inform people and, perhaps, affect their behavior. The four segment includes the Voices' student ICE projects, In Camera Edit stories that they planned and filmed as part of their camera training at MTN.

New TCYMN Member: .EDU FIM FEST

ImageThe .Edu Film Fest is an annual collaborative event that showcases student products from all parts of the MTS Digital Media Academy. Student written scripts are brought to life by student filmmakers. The films are then scored by the Sound and Music students. And finally the event promotion is created and products by the Graphic Design students.

The .Edu Film Festival is a program of the MTS Digital Media Academy. MTS Digital Media Academy strives to improve academic achievement by combining the inspiration of digital arts with core academic subjects. Through hands-on experience with professional grade equipment and personal instruction, students are given knowledge and skills associated with digital media careers. Students can also explore and express their creativity in film, music and graphic arts. The background they receive in these programs can lead them down the road to post-secondary education or, in somecases, directly to the workplace.

From Video and Screenwriting to Graphics and Music, the Digital Media Academy has it all!
