Story Board's Mini-Film Camp - Students Call the Shots!
In June Story Board held a weekend mini film camp for area high school students. This two day intensive film camp included a brief orientation of various departments on a film set including: directing, camera operation, lighting, and continuity.
During the first day of camp, students developed their own story boards and shot lists using the script, Bomb, the official script selection from Story Board's 2008 Screenwriting Showcase. Students also worked with Lee Sandberg, a professional Director of Photography, to pre-light the film set for the next day's production. Through this hands-on exercise students learned key elements of lighting for film.
Day two offered students a full day of production. Students rotated throughout several set departments and received serious hands-on experience. Professional filmmakers were on the set to advise and assist, however, students called the shots!
Story Board thanks all of the professional filmmakers who participated in the mini-film camp: Lee Sandberg, Joe Johnson, Molly Worre, Dan Raleigh and Paul Cram.

The series begins on Saturday, September 27th (1-3pm) with a FREE workshop for high school students on the art of adaptation at The Loft Literary Center. Minnesota's very own Ali Selim, Director/Writer of Sweet Land, will be the guest speaker at the workshop!
