TCYMN's first Media Summit is a success! On May 17th the Downtown Minneapolis Library hosted the first TCYMN "Straight Shot Media Summit" Youth and adults from organizations Migizi Communications, MTN, Perprich Center for Arts Education, SPNN, TVbyGIRLS and Neighborhood Learning Community worked together to plan and pull off an amazing event!
30 youth had 5 hours to find a new crew of other youth to work with, randomly pick a genre Experimental, Documentary or Narrative, make use a of prop (a cane) and make a video in less than 5 minutes. Adding to the fun, all six films were screened immediately following the editing. An audience of friends and family made their way out to see the screening. Three local celebrity media makers served as judges , Squid Squared , Viva and Jerry , and prizes were given for Best Use of Prop , Best Use of Genre , and Best Overall Video. There was also an Audience Pick award. Then the Seventh Generation Warrior's performed.
CONGRATULATIONS!
