Many of you have probably heard about the devastating tornado that went through Joplin, Missouri, a little over a week ago. Only 30 miles from our home! We are so thankful for the Lord's protection of our family - but we are heartbroken over the hundreds of people who are hurting. So we've decided to do what we can to bless these needy families.
And you can help!
We're collecting fabric scraps from anyone who will send them, and are also asking for volunteers who are willing to sew together quilt tops. Are you a machine-quilter that would be willing to lend your services? Can you donate queen or king-sized flat sheets to be used as quilt backs?
-Send us your scraps! (Most of us probably have stashes that could use a thinning, right?) Nothing smaller than 13", please. Fat quarters would be lovely, too!
-Send us your sheets! New or gently used flat sheets, in any pretty color.
-Or donate money to go towards batting and thread.
-If you would like to volunteer your hands for sewing together quilt tops or quilting, please contact us via phone (417-775-2181) or email (just respond to this newsletter).
Our goal is to make as many beautiful quilts as we can! Feel free to ask questions, if you have them.
Let's get the word out! Please forward this to all your friends and family, blog it, tweet it, Facebook it, or tell about this project in your local quilt shops. Most of all, we would appreciate your prayers for the people of Joplin.
Thank you all for your support!
With much love,
the Long ladies
PS. We plan on posting Joplin Quilt Project updates on our blog, www.mariemadelinestudio.typepad.com!
